Then, tour the 19th-century architectural gem, the Bahia Palace (the “Moroccan Alhambra”) including its “harem” and Andalusian gardens. See the recently restored 16th-century Ben Youssef Koranic School and walk through the labyrinth of artisan-filled souks (Morocco’s largest) for shopping and photo opportunities.

Day 3 – High Atlas Mountains & Agafay Desert

Depart in a 4X4 to head to the Atlas Mountains for a 1 to 2-hour hike with a licensed Mountain Guide (many trails available with various difficulty levels). Continue to explore the Kik Plateau and its charming Berber villages before arriving in the Agafay Desert.  Revel in your magical evening under the stars at a luxury-tented camp far away from civilization.

Return to Marrakesh and see the modern part of the city. Start with a visit to the Gardens of Jacques Majorelle, the famous 20th-century Orientalist painter. Also, see the Berber Museum – the largest in Morocco dedicated to its indigenous people. Next door see the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, dedicated to the French fashion designer who spent many years in this city and left an important legacy.

Day 5 – Essaouira

Depart for a day trip to seaside Essaouira, Morocco’s most picturesque coastal town. Along the way, stop to see the iconic goats in the trees and learn about the argan nuts that they love eating.
